Tallis Spem in alium
Handel Dixit Dominus

Saturday 2 March 2019, 8pm
Spem in alium nunquam habui (“In No Other Is My Hope”) by Thomas Tallis is a tour de force of Renaissance polyphony scored for eight choirs of five singers. It is considered the composer’s single greatest achievement and has been unsurpassed in the English repertoire.

Experience the awe-inspiring grandeur of Tallis’ forty-part motet in full surround-sound at Nottingham’s Pugin-designed Cathedral Church of St Barnabas, which this year celebrates its 175th Anniversary.

The programme will also include other music by Tallis, Purcell and Hildegard de Bingen, culminating with Handel’s ferocious Dixit Dominus, with the Nottingham Cathedral Choir, and Helix Ensemble, directed by Alex Patterson.
