For many years there has been an ecumenical link of friendship and common endeavour between the three Dioceses of Lincoln (Anglican), Nottingham and Brugge (Bruges). This has been rooted in exchanges built on the twinning of parishes and, every five years, a symposium in either England or Flanders, including the three Bishops, on a particular area of interest or concern. The last year has seen an exciting development in the beginning of a Music Link. The heart of this is sharing among the choirs of the three Cathedrals but its wider aim is to foster the enrichment of music in the liturgy for everyone. This weekend’s visit by the Lincoln choir is the continuation of a programme which began earlier this year when our Cathedral Youth Choir travelled to Lincoln Cathedral to give a short recital in the Chapter House. The programme will continue, including the visit of the Lincoln choir to Brugge next July and a visit by the Brugge choir (Collegium de Dunis) to Nottingham and Lincoln in November 2020. The development of the Music Link has been welcomed with an enthusiasm which we hope will be catching. |
